We have recently been in one of those lovely spells where we are having constant car troubles. Did I mention it was with both of our cars? It’s never fun, but our experiences reminded me of something important.
You see, throughout this journey, we have had many negative experiences. From mechanics who didn’t learn the skills they needed to really do their job well, to mechanics who weren’t doing their best – making mistakes a brand new mechanic shouldn’t make, to over-charging, unkept promises and lies – we have experienced a wide range of the problems in our world.

There is a misconception that God is somehow not allowed to enter public schools. In reality, your kids usually have much more latitude than we tend to think. Often, the cases you hear about in the news are isolated, have special circumstances or are later overturned.
There are parenting books and Christian parenting books. Some are fine and some are frankly a bit horrifying. Rarely do I find what I would consider a great parenting book. 
In mid-summer there is a point when the weeds can overtake a garden or flower border. Even in the spring, small weeds can be found. In colder months, weeds may occasionally sprout in house plants that were left outdoors in the warmer weather.
Christian parents often feel overwhelmed. They are already expected to parent in ways that run counter to the culture in which they are raising their kids. They feel an urgency about teaching their children about God and helping them build strong spiritual foundations. Then they read a blog or hear a speaker talk about the importance of daily family devotionals.
